Gifts
You
have selected your closest friends and family members to be a part of your wedding
ceremony. They have helped you shop for dresses, listen to potential DJs and a
variety of other wedding chores. Don't forget to properly thank them. It is customary
to present gifts to the male and female attendants at the rehearsal dinner the
night before the wedding. It is a nice way to thank them for being such an integral
part of your wedding and your life.
The
women in the wedding party are probably people you have known a long time and
played an important role in helping out with all of the details of the wedding.
There are many options to choose from when selecting gifts for these women. You
may decide to purchase the same gifts for all of them or to buy something unique
and personal for each special friend. Many of the gifts you may choose from can
be engraved to make the present all the more special. Here are some ideas:
- Tote
bag
- Address
book
- Candle
- Wine
- Manicure
set
- Lipstick
holder
- Earrings
- Necklace
- Manicure

The
men in the wedding party have some equally important tasks and help to make the
groom look his best on your wedding day. It is important for you to show them
how much you appreciate them by welcoming them into your new life as a married
couple. A special note from you, accompanying each guest would make it extra special
and add a warm touch. Here are some gift ideas for the gentlemen in the wedding
party:
- Classic
pen
- Cufflinks
- Travel
set
- Golf
balls
- Money
clip
- Flask
- Key
ring
- Shot
glasses
- Multi-tool
- Mug
Regardless
of the gifts you decide to give your closest friends, be sure to include in every
package a genuine, heart-felt thank you. These people have probably spent a lot
of time and money to help prepare for your wedding. They are the people who mean
the most to you in your life; make sure that they understand that.
Gift
Registry
Many
of your friends and relatives will be showering you with gifts in the weeks and
months before your wedding. You may have an engagement party, bridal shower or
couple's party. To help your guests present you with items you want for these
occasions and for your wedding, it is a good idea to register for gifts at several
stores.
Registering
through a bridal registry will ensure you and your fiancé receive exactly
what you want and need and eliminates the chance of receiving duplicate gifts.
It also makes it easy for guests to buy gifts you are sure to appreciate.
Be
sure you select at least one store that offers your gift registry online. This
makes it easy for friends and family members across the country to purchase orders
online and have them sent to you. Register at two or three stores that offer a
wide variety of items. One store you choose should be a discount department store
that sells everything from coffeemakers to DVD players, comforters to gardening
supplies. Another store you may choose might be a high-end department store that
sells fine china, flatware, high-end appliances and bath items. Some of the items
you may want to look for when registering include:
- China
- Everyday
dishes
- Glasses
and stemware
- Flatware
- Microwave
Oven
- Coffeemaker
- Cookie
jar
- Pans and
skillets
- Comforter
or duvet
- Sheets
- Bath
towels and accessories
- Vacuum
cleaner
- Frames
and pictures
- Blender
- Mixer
- Mixing
bowls and kitchen utensils
Of
course, what you register for depends on what you need and your individual situation.
Remember to choose items in a wide variety of prices because some of your guests
may join together to purchase more expensive gifts. Be sure to get a printout
of your registry from each store so you don't register for the same item at two
different stores. Store personnel will offer their assistance to make registration
easier. They may also make recommendations of things you may have forgotten to
add to the list.
Don't
be afraid to get creative in the items you put on your list. If you've been wanting
new bikes, add those to the list. Honeymoon items such as luggage, or bags are
sometimes fun to register for as well. Some of your guests may want to buy you
something out-of-the-ordinary so it's fun for you and easy for them if you add
a few unconventional items to the list.
Register
for gifts about four months before the wedding to make sure the items are still
in stock as your wedding day approaches. It is acceptable to note where you are
registered on shower or party invitations, but never on wedding invitations. Enlist
the help of friends or relatives to pass the word on about where you are registered.
Be
sure to have fun when you are registering for gifts with your fiancé. Make
it an enjoyable experience by discussing your future together and wondering what
type of meals you will be preparing and who will be cleaning up the dishes afterwards.
This may be a nice time for the two of you to relax and talk while you are in
the midst of planning your wedding.
